About Us

Virtual Travel Guides started as the personal travelogue of UK residents Kim and Steve Larkins back in 2000. Since then, the site has been developed and updated substantially with more worldwide travel content illustrated with our personal photographs. We now travel extensively with our daughter who was born in 2001 and shares our passion for exploring exotic destinations.

Virtual Travel Guides has now partnered with leading name travel companies to provide a range of low cost worldwide travel services including cheap flights, holidays, car hire, hotels, airport parking and travel insurance.

Passion For Travel

During our time together, we've been lucky enough to visit some spectacular destinations around the globe and through this website we share some of our best photographs, travel tips and memories with you. Our daughter, Sophie enjoys travelling with us to long haul destinations like the Caribbean, the USA, New Zealand and Australia. She started flying when she was just 9 weeks old and we share our travel tips for children and babies on long haul flights with you, to help keep your kids happy in the air and to avoid the unpleasant effects of family jetlag.

Kim and I met about eleven years ago and now live together in Berkshire, UK. We were married in 2000 at a small ceremony in southern England. The picture below (left) was taken at Pisces Restaurant, Barbados which is recommended in my 'Barbados Virtual Tour'.

Kim Larkins is a freelance UK Training and Development Consultant and member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD) and founder of KSL Training. Kim's business specialises in all aspects of UK training and development and personal development.		Steve works as a web designer and SEO expert. His hobbies include Amateur Radio and travel. Our most recent trip was to spend a fortnight touring California visiting Palm Springs and San Diego. Steve is pictured in the Cheers Bar in Boston, USA below.
